Fluorinated Materials for energy storage

Energy storage is a key enabling technology for modern electrochemical devices.

Our research focuses on the fluorination of materials for Li-metal and Li-ion batteries, as well as fuel cells.

Li metal Batteries

By applying a stable inorganic coating to lithium metal, it becomes possible to produce rechargeable lithium-metal batteries that are stable, efficient and significantly safer. Moreover, our technology can be integrated into virtually any next-generation battery system, including solid-state designs.

In our laboratory, we developed a PFPE-based surface functionalization of carbonaceous GDL materials that provides stable superhydrophobicity while preserving high electrical conductivity, leading to improved water management and enhanced PEMFC performance.
